The simple adage should be “You wouldn’t put a car oil in a lorry so why use anything other than marine oil”
Every engine oil is manufactured to a specification which makes it suitable for an application. Marine oils have high Total Base Numbers than car engine oils and as such contain high levels of SAPS (Sulphated Ash Phosphorus and Sulphur) which makes them unsuitable for use in modern cars and HGV’s.
